Championships this Year...
The Yamaha Past Masters will be running the following championships in 2026 alongside the supported National BMCRC championship.
YPM National
This is the main tradition BMCRC supported championship - open to all riders that join the grid from National to Junior clubman status. Points and medals awarded at every race through the year. The most competitive championship we run where you will find the fastest riders fighting for the honour of YPM champion. Prizes and trophies awarded at the BMCRC end of season awards event in Birmingham.
Clubman
This is traditionally a YPMRC supported championship but is now also recognised by BMCRC and supported with end of season trophies. Consider this an intermediate championship who haven't quite stepped up to national status or are in early years of their racing journey. This is very competitive and all riders are rewarded with medals at each round, at the end of the season YPMRC presentations and also at the BMCRC end of season awards in Birmingham.
Junior Clubman
This replaces the traditional Rookie championship which was dedicated to new riders or those that had competed less than 2 rounds. key points are
- Any rookie will be put into the junior clubman for at least their first season.
- Existing clubmen who do not usually finish within 12% of the race winners time will also be invited to enter as a junior clubman. They can of course elect to compete in the usual clubman class.
- Medals for first place junior clubman in each race
- End of season top 3 will receive a trophy at the YPMRC end of season presentation.
We can expect battles all the way down the field as the honours of Junior Clubman are up for grabs.
Dunlop Cup.
This is a new internal championship run this year, sponsored and managed by Len Whalin for any riders running the Dunlop Sportsmart treaded tyre. This will appeal to riders who dont want to invest in the more expensive tyre options and provide a new competition that should help set new expectations and targets. Should the conditions be wet any tyre choice is allowed. The top 3 riders will be acknowledged at the end of season YPMRC end of season presentations.
Team Cup
This is an existing internal championship mainly for fun supported by G-Force motorcycles. 2 riders join forces and accumulate points through the year and are acknowledged at the end of season YPMRC end of season presentations. Only 1 national rider can exist in any team - ideally we encourage teams of national and junior clubman to team up.
A bit of History on YPM
Yamaha Past Masters (YPM) is a motorcycle racing championship, run in the UK under the control of the British Motorcycle Racing Club (BMCRC/Bemsee)
YPMRC (Yamaha Past Master Racing Club) was formed for the riders as a club by the riders who bought into the ethos and spirit of the class - Out of this came the class statement of 'Competing on a budget - Racing on the limit'
Being part of the British Motorcycle Racing Club (Bemsee), Britain's oldest racing club, enables the class to race at the top-level circuits around the UK. As a club championship, it's open to anyone with a racing licence, or anyone who is willing to obtain one from the ACU Road Racing Department.
Racing in YPM is one of the most cost-effective ways of getting into the exciting world of motorcycle road racing, because the bikes are relatively cheap to buy and run, with the odd one still lurking probably in a shed near you!. The YPM club's infamous camaraderie, makes for a great paddock atmosphere where no one wants for help or parts in the event of an emergency.
Novices get a great help in their introduction to racing with the expert guidance from Bemsee's rookie school, club instructors and the YPM Family spirit will ensure all riders family and friends feel part of something special
Whether its one race , one meeting, one year or more!, you will not have more fun on two wheels than with a screaming two stroke in the YPM paddock, and that's guaranteed!
